Trademark Registration Procedures in the Middle East and Afr

Egypt

     

  • Power of attorney legalized up to the Egyptian consulate.
  • Certified copy of the priority document if claimed.
  • Information of applicant: name, address, ID, and nationality.

ARIPO Organization

  • Information of the applicant: name, address, and nationality.

  • A simply signed POA.

Angola

  •  Information of the applicant: name, address, and nationality;
  • Original Notarized and Legalized POA signed by the legal representative of the applicant (legalized up to Angolan Consulate).
  • Original activity proof of the applicant, must accompanied with an original notarized Portuguese translation. We highly advise our clients to also legalize these documents up to Angolan Consulate.

  • Original Notarized and Legalized (or apostilled) commercial register/certificate of incorporation/ any official documents including the activity of the applicant with certified Arabic translation. 
  • Knowing that the activity in this document must be related to the class in which the mark will be filed.
  • Classes and specification of goods/services (11th edition of Nice CL.).
  • A certified copy of the priority document. (If claiming priority).
  • Mark representation (Logo).

Burundi

  •   A simply signed POA. scanned copy is sufficient.
  • A list of Products or Services for which registration of the mark is requested, listed in the order of the relevant class or classes of the International classification.
  • Details of the mark.

Cape Verde

  • Power of attorney notarized.
  • Certified copy of the priority document if claimed, with Portuguese translation.

Democratic Republic of Congo

  • Information of the applicant: name, address, and nationality;
  • Signed POA.
  • Classes and specifications of goods/services.
  • A copy of the priority document. (If claiming priority)
  • Mark representation (Logo)
  • Passport copy (if applicant is an individual).

Djibouti

  • POA simply signed & stamped by applicant (scan copy by email is enough).
  • Copy of priority (if claimed) 
  • Trademark details.

Ethiopia

  •  Information of applicant: name, address, and nationality.
  • Original Notarized and Legalized POA.
  • Original Notarized and Legalized business license along with its stamped English translation.
  • Classes and specification of goods/services.
  • A certified copy of the priority document. (If claiming priority);
  • Mark representation (Logo)

Erbil/Kurdistan of Iraq

  • Information of applicant: name, address, and nationality.
  • Original Notarized and Legalized POA up to Iraqi Consulate.
  • Classes and specification of goods/services.
  • Original certified copy of the priority document. (If claiming priority).
  • Mark representation (Logo).
  • Original Home Registration Certificate of the Mark, legalized up to Iraqi Consulate (shall be accompanied with a certified Arabic translation).

Ghana

  • POA simply signed by the applicant company. 
  • Full particulars of the applicant, list of goods/services and a representation of the mark.
  • Date of first use of the trademark in the Ghanian market if the trademark is already in use; otherwise, the trademark should be filed with intent-to-use basis.
  • Certified copy of priority document in case of priority claim.

Iraq/Baghdad

  • Information of applicant: name, address, and nationality;
  • Notarized and Legalized POA up to Iraqi Consulate.
  • Classes and specification of goods/services
  • A certified copy of the priority document. (If claiming priority);
  • Mark representation (Logo).

Iran

  • Power of attorney notarized and legalized up to the Iran Consulate.
  • Applicant's business license/incorporation certificate along with Farsi translation notarized by notary public only.
  • Certified copy of priority document if claimed (accepted within six months).

Jordan

  • Information of applicant: name, address, and nationality;
  • Notarized and Legalized POA up to the Jordan Consulate (Note 3);
  • Classes and specification of goods/services;
  • A certified copy of the priority document. (If claiming priority);
  • Mark representation (Logo).

Kuwait

  • Information of applicant: name, address, and nationality;
  • Original Notarized and Legalized POA up to Kuwaiti Consulate. It is sufficient to proceed with the Filing under a notarized and legalized copy of the POA, provided that the original POA be submitted later.
  • Classes and specification of goods/services (11th edition of Nice CL.)
  • A certified copy of the priority document. (If claiming priority);
  • Mark representation (Logo)

Kenya

  • Applicant information: Name, Address, and Nationality.
  • Signed POA.
  • Classes and specifications of goods/services.
  • A certified copy of the priority document (in case of priority claim).
  • Trademark image (logo)

Lebanon

  • Information of applicant’s name, address, and nationality.
  • Original Notarized and Legalized POA up to Lebanon Consulate (Note 2)
  • Classes and specification of goods/services
  • A certified copy of the priority document. (If claiming priority)
  • Mark representation (Logo)

Libya

  • Information of applicant: name, address, and nationality.
  • Classes, Goods/Services
  • Original Notarized and Legalized POA, with full name and address of the applicant,
  • (should be executed by an authorized representative of the applicant and whose name is
  • mentioned in the Commercial Registration)
  • Original Notarized and Legalized Commercial Register or Incorporation Certificate
  • Specimen (logo) of the mark,
  • Original Notarized and Legalized Priority document -if any.
  • Photos of the Products Bears the Trademark

Morocco

  • The attached power of attorney simply signed (not legalized nor notarized), showing the name and title of signatory. Soft copy is sufficient.
  • One print of the Mark (not exceeding 8 X 8 cm). Prints in color are also required, in case colors are claimed.
  • The applicant's full name and address.
  • The list of the goods and/or services to be covered by the application.
  • The priority document, if any.

Mauritius

  • A soft representation of the trade mark/logo (if not a word mark)
  • Name and address of the applicant
  • Class/es and list of goods/services
  • POA notarised and legalised (by way of Apostille) 

Madagascar

  • Full name, street address, and description of the applicant (including trading style, if any, and country of incorporation).
  • Power of attorney in French language, notarized.
  • Priority document if claimed.
  • List of goods.
  • Specimen of the device mark.

Mozambique

  • Applicant information: Name, Address, and Nationality.
  • Power of attorney, notarized.
  • Classes and specifications of goods/services.

Namibia

  • Applicant information: Name, Address, and Nationality.
  • Power of attorney simply signed.
